Competitive English-2 – Unlocking the Power of Synonyms-4

✍ Avtar Narayan

As we learned how to use synonyms with examples from Panchatantra stories last time, today we will continue in the same direction. We will focus on a specific story that is one of the most famous tales from that Tantrakhyayika –    “The Lion and mouse”

In a vast jungle (जंगल – synonyms: forest, woods, wilderness, rainforest), a ferocious (भयंकर – synonyms: fierce, savage, brutal, vicious) lion named Shera caught a tiny (छोटा – synonyms: small, little, minute, minuscule) mouse. The frightened (सशंकित – synonyms: afraid, scared, startled, fearful) mouse begged for mercy and promised (वादा करना – synonyms: vow, pledge, assure, swear) to help one day. Later, Shera was trapped in a net. Remembering the promise, the small (नन्हा – synonyms: petite, compact, miniature, slight) mouse gnawed through the ropes and freed him, showing that even the smallest (सबसे छोटा – synonyms: tiniest, littlest, minutest, slightest) can be mighty (शक्तिशाली – synonyms: powerful, strong, formidable, potent).
